Best Implementation Award in Consumer Culture Study Award Scheme

An award-wining team of environmentally conscious students explained the sustainability features of a smart recycling bin in a morning assembly last week.

The team called Renaissance consisted of four 5E students: Wong Long Hin, Chung Andy Ka Wai, Wu Pak Kwan and Xiao Guanze. They were given the Best Implementation Award in the 23rd Consumer Culture Study Award Scheme co-organised by the Consumer Council and the Education Bureau on 3 October.

Their smart and green design employs a mobile app to track users’ recycling habits and makes suggestions about recycling practices. The project seeks to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 7 and 13.

We are pleased that the students made use of interdisciplinary knowledge and research skills acquired in Common Core lessons and the STEM curriculum to tackle real-world problems.

Many thanks to Mr Paul Lam and Mr William Chan for their guidance and support throughout the journey.
