Second Staff Development Day 2022-2023

On Friday, 3 November, our teachers gathered in the school hall for the second Staff Development Day. The topic for the day was ‘Effective Use of Both Quantitative and Qualitative Data for School Self-evaluation’.

In the first session of the half-day programme, Dr. Morton Chan, Director of Quality School Improvement Project (QSIP) at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Miss Noel Ho spoke on the importance of effective utilisation of assessment data to inform and improve learning and teaching.

During the second session, parallel workshops on six Key Learning Areas were conducted to empower teachers to assess and analyse students’ performance effectively. Based on case studies in the local school context, the workshops offered our teachers opportunities to enhance their knowledge and skills in using data as a tool to evaluate learning and teaching. They also provided them with practical ways of setting questions that elicit higher-order thinking among students.

The teachers found the workshops useful as they gained fresh insights into how to address students’ learning needs through implementing valid, reliable and holistic assessments.
