SPC STEAM Team Achieves Success at the 1st International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI) in Bulgaria!

We are excited to share that our student, Fan Siu Lung, Drake represented Hong Kong at the 1st International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI) held in Burgas, Bulgaria from 9th to 15th August! After demonstrating outstanding performance in the local competition, Drake was selected as one of the four students to represent Hong Kong on the global stage. Under the guidance of our STEAM Education Coordinator, Mr. Chan Ping Yiu, Drake participated in the practical round and earned a prestigious Silver award!

The IOAI is a pioneering event that brought together nearly 200 students from six continents to compete in both scientific and practical AI challenges. This year’s focus was on Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, and Computer Vision. In the practical round, participants created AI-generated visualizations for a remix by Bulgarian music star Maria Ilieva. We are incredibly proud of Drake's achievement and Mr. Chan's role as an IOAI Observer representing Hong Kong to participate in the IOAI conference, meetings and workshops.

This success underscores the strength of our STEAM program and sets a high standard for future international competitions. Congratulations to the SPC STEAM Team!
