Joint-School Community Youth Club Social Service

On March 24th, members of the Community Youth Club (CYC) embarked on a meaningful journey to Ka Lam Gerocomy Limited for an elderly visit service. This service was co-organized by the Community Youth Club of St. Paul’s College and St. Stephen’s Girls’ College.

Prior to the service, our dedicated volunteers attended a training workshop to acquire essential communication and interpersonal skills needed to serve the elderly. Through our interactions with the elderly, we have learned the virtues of empathy, patience, and, most importantly, justice. Sadly, it is not uncommon to witness the seniors being perceived as a naturally incapable group, leading to unequal treatment and a lack of consideration in various corners of our city.

Under the guidance of the local staff, we began contemplating the concept of justice, which was recently covered by our school principal during the morning assembly. We have come to understand that both equality and equity are essential components. Respecting and accommodating the diverse needs of each individual is not only necessary but should also be based on fostering an equal relationship.
