Distinguished Prefect Assembly Series Part 2 - Professor Ip Pak Keung Patrick

We are thrilled to have welcomed Professor Ip Pak Keung Patrick as our guest speaker. Professor Ip is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at the HKU School of Clinical Medicine. His outstanding achievements include being recognized among the Top 2% Scientists Worldwide in Clinical Science (Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine) by Stanford University in 2023 and receiving the Outstanding Asian Paediatrician Award from the Asian Pacific Paediatric Association (APPA) in 2022.

As a former Head Prefect, Professor Ip began his address by sharing engaging anecdotes from his time at St. Paul’s College. He provided insights into his vibrant school life, where he led numerous clubs and participated in various activities. Emphasizing the value of mutual support among classmates during challenging times, both academic and personal, he encouraged students to cherish their relationships with teachers and families.

Delving into adolescent health, Professor Ip underscored the importance of engaging in sports. He highlighted the many benefits of sports, such as reducing the risk of myopia, fostering resilience, and helping to manage stress and depression. Advocating for at least 60 minutes of moderate-to-intense physical activity daily, in line with WHO standards, he stressed the importance of incorporating sports into teenagers' routines.

In closing, Professor Ip urged students not only to prioritize academic pursuits but also to allocate quality time for meaningful interactions with family and friends. His holistic guidance resonated with the audience, emphasizing the importance of a balanced approach to personal growth and well-being.
